چکیده
Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate color characteristics in wood samples from Acacia mangium a homogeneous plantation Bahia state, northeast Brazil, and also analyze the influence anatomical section radial position trunk on response contribute information for best use wood, such as, example, optimization performance pieces sawmill through most acceptable aesthetic form by final consumer. Six trees with age 14 years were cut. species identified analysis at Laboratory Wood Anatomy Federal University Paraná, comparing sample collected authenticated material. A disc base each tree divided into six oriented sections (transversal, tangential), dimensions 20 × 30mm, named near pith, intermediate bark. total 36 evaluated, 12 position. colorimetric evaluation performed CM-5 spectrophotometer. Data lightness, green-red blue-yellow chromatic coordinates obtained, values saturation hue angle calculated. planted forest is classified as olive color. Color parameters influenced trunk, being found 44 transversal section, 55 tangential 57 luminosity. Transversal had lower comparison longitudinal surfaces higher luminosity than sections. bark region presented parameters, except angle, pith regions, which around 70 different positions wood.

Relationship between wood color parameters measured by the CIELab system and extractive and phenol content in Acacia mangium and Vochysia guatemalensis from fast-growth plantations.
The heterogeneity of color distribution between sapwood and heartwood limits the market for wood from fast-growth plantations of tropical species. Wood color is associated with wood extractives contents. This study presents the relationship between wood color parameters measured by the CIELab color system and total amount of extractives and phenolic-type extractives in ethanol-toluene and hot w...
متن کاملGibberellin mediates the development of gelatinous fibres in the tension wood of inclined Acacia mangium seedlings.
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Gibberellin stimulates negative gravitropism and the formation of tension wood in tilted Acacia mangium seedlings, while inhibitors of gibberellin synthesis strongly inhibit the return to vertical growth and suppress the formation of tension wood. To characterize the role of gibberellin in tension wood formation and gravitropism, this study investigated the role of gibberell...
متن کاملCharacterization of Acacia Mangium Wood Based Activated Carbons Prepared in the Presence of Basic Activating Agents
The aim of this study was to observe the effects of alkaline activating agents on the characteristics, composition, and surface morphology of the designed activated carbons. Activated carbons were prepared by pyrolysis of Acacia mangium wood in the presence of two basic activating agents (calcium oxide and potassium hydroxide). The extent of impregnation ratio of precursor to activating agents ...
متن کاملPhenolic extracts from Acacia mangium bark and their antioxidant activities.
Phenolic compounds are present at very high concentrations in the bark of Acacia mangium. These compounds are known to have strong antioxidant activity and thus different beneficial effects on human health. Phenolic compounds in bark of A. mangium were extracted and their antioxidant activities were investigated using the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical-scavenging and ferric-r...
متن کاملGenetic diversity of symbiotic Bradyrhizobium elkanii populations recovered from inoculated and non-inoculated Acacia mangium field trials in Brazil.
Acacia mangium is a legume tree native to Australasia. Since the eighties, it has been introduced into many tropical countries, especially in a context of industrial plantations. Many field trials have been set up to test the effects of controlled inoculation with selected symbiotic bacteria versus natural colonization with indigenous strains. In the introduction areas, A. mangium trees spontan...
